Central Orthodontics can provide specialist advice with Invisalign treatment. One of the partners, Peter McCallum, is very experienced with over fifteen years of treating patients with "Invisalign". This combined with nearly 30 years of orthodontic experience and knowledge means you can be sure that your treatment will be provided to the highest standards possible. He is the only Scottish orthodontist on the Advisory Board which is a group of twelve orthodontists who provide expert advice to Align Technology UK, the providers of Invisalign appliances. He is a clinical speaker, teaching orthodontists how to treat with "Invisalign".
Traditionally, braces are made using metal, plastic or ceramic brackets. These brackets are fixed in place to the front of the tooth and a wire is then held between them. Whilst braces are clinically proven to deliver very effective results, many prospective patients are afraid to wear them as they do not like the idea of their appearance during treatment.
We offer a solution as our Orthodontists in both Falkirk and Stirling can fit you with Invisalign which will give you a beautiful smile as conventional braces will, but without compromising your appearance during the treatment.
Invisalign offers the patient a series of clear, removable aligners which are changed every 1-2 weeks. There is no tightening to be done, no changing of wires and no elastic bands to get in the way. Instead, all of the adjustments are made with one new aligner every week.
Since the aligners are clear they are hardly visible in the mouth at all and will fit perfectly against your teeth. As each aligner is individually moulded to specifically fit each patient, Invisalign is much more comfortable than conventional braces.
Invisalign offers the complete cosmetic orthodontic programme. We will begin with the most important part of straightening your teeth with the series of Invisalign aligners. After this stage has been completed, we will recontour your teeth (if required) to truly give you that perfect smile!
You will then be given retainers. These are normally removable which fit your teeth very closely. You will be expected to wear them at night time while you are in bed. We offer retainers included with your treatment which are made at the practice laboratory. However, some patients choose to have Vivera Retainers made. These are produced by Align Technology and are very close fitting, comfortable retainers. Occasionally, a fixed retainer will be used. These are not common because they can cause problems with breakages and cleaning. Ultimately, the type of retainers best suited to your needs will be discussed and chosen with you.
The time needed for Invisalign to work its magic will depend on the severity of the patients case. This means that cost will also vary from patient to patient as some people will need many aligners and others will require just a few.
We offer Invisalign Teen - this is similar to Full Invisalign but has special features to allow the teenage dentition to develop.
There is a special type of teen appliance which can help the developing teeth grow into a better bite position. As this happens the front teeth can be straightened at the same time.
Following treatment it is important to keep your teeth straight and retainers are the only way to achieve this. This is true for all types of orthodontic treatment.
While this appliance is very simple and comfortable for our patients it takes a deep and knowledgeable understanding of orthodontic tooth movement to make it work. This goes into the pre-treatment planning phase, known as the clincheck. Your orthodontist will demonstrate this to you as part of the process to plan your treatment. It will allow you to visualise the predicted result we aim to achieve.
